Tuesday memories

Hey blog- ville friends This was the beginning of our parsley. Now we have 4 pots of parsley. So we have enough. We put parsley in everything.
This is our third year for food gardening. Each year it has grown!!! This year it has not done as well as the other two years. Why you asked, b/c of the heat!!!!!! Like our sweet bell peppers. The sweet bells will not set fruit if the temperature is over 95 degrees. All of May and June we have had a very few days under 95 degrees!!!!! So we have had very few bell peppers.
Some of our Day-lilies. They too have suffered from the heat.
Sweet Bambi. When I first got her we always went to a park to walk b/c they were building a 6 lane road in front of our house. It has been done 12 years now and the road has saved a lot of lives. Before the road was done someone died every few months now never any deaths on the new road.
When the road was done we walked right around our house. Out in front of and up and down the street and even some in the back of our house. She loved her walks!!
One of my beautiful roses that I tended to daily!!! 365 days a year.
Have a good week dear friends, Fern

  1. We had to give up on our peppers here, too. All that's left are the tomatoes! Stay cool, Miss Fern!

  2. Hi Fern, Our garden(flowers, herbs and a single heirloom tomato)is struggling because our summer was so late in starting and now we have the same heat as you do. Love the daylillies-we have gold, and the rose. Have a great week dear friend.

  3. Hi Fern, our summer is about 3 weeks behind. It's finally warmed up - its about 74 degrees and sunny.

  4. Sorry the heat isn spoiling the garden. I love those lillies. Take care. Hugs GJ x

  5. Beautiful flowers. I've tried window herb gardens to no avail... we're too wooded I guess?

  6. Oh Fern! That pretty pink rose made me think of your love for Bambi :-) Try to stay cool!

    Sending Rottie Kisses!

  7. We had another rain shower this afternoon, then a steam bath!!! UGH!
The heat is getting to me in my old age! :)

  8. Yes, we've had a lot of hot days here, too. My roses aren't doing well this year. Hardly any blooms. Stay cool!

  9. We have the opposite problem here with peppers--too cool. And when we finally do get some heat, it's not long enough. I'm just hoping my tomatoes produce this year!

  10. Sorry about your extreme heat. Things are moving along here in the garden. Lots of berries and today I saw a little green cherry tomato...soon...Yay!

  11. I love the pictures of your flowers...especially the beautiful pink rose. Thanks for sharing with us!
Hugs and wags, Gail, Mistaya and Maggie

  12. It's hot here too... way too hot for us to go on walks during the day. Booo!

It's great that you're growing your own food -- I wish I could have a doggie cookie tree! ;)

    Woofs & hugs,

    ~Bailey (Yep, I'm a girl!)

  13. Love that pink rose. The color is just gorgeous! We hope it cools off so you get some bell peppers to eat, Fern!

    Love ya lots

  14. It's too hot here, too, and no rain. The lawn is a lovely straw brown and the garden is struggling as are the fruit trees. And I thought PA was supposed to be cool in the summer - what a laugh!!! Keep cool, Fern -

  15. There's ANOTHER thing me and Bambi have in common. I LUVS my walkies, too! They're really one of the bestest things in the whole wide world.

I'm sorry it's been so hot and your garden doesn't like it. It's been hot here, too, but it's only s'posed to be 79 today. Maybe some of that cooler air will make its way to you!

    Wiggles & Wags,

  16. loved seeing your garden....

    my Buddy loved walks too

hope your doing well, my friend

  17. We grow and use a lot of parsley as well. My little herb garden planter on the deck gives us basil, rosemary, sage, oregano, thyme and of course our parsley. Love seeing sweet Bambi looking back at you with such love and trust. I know you treasure all these memories.

  18. Your roses are so pretty. I love that pink color. Your Bambi had such a sweet face. Bless her.

  19. Fern what a beautiful post and pictures.
My Dad's tomatoes have suffered in the heat too. They are tasty but all of the are split when we pick them.
    Hugs Madi and Mom

  20. Hi Fern. Mom like to put parsley in food too.
