Amanda had been put in the dog shows and she won her championship!!! The lady who breed her, showed her, was going to take her further in the show world but the day she got her championship she got her tail caught and broke in the van door!!! Poor Amanda!!!
She came to me in the late summer of 91. By cooler weather she started to have seizures !!!! Scared me to death!!! I took her to 4 vets here in the city. We got two different seizure medication neither worked!!! They did lots of test on her. There was a time she had 2 or 3 a day and it wore us out, both she and I!! In 92 I got sick and poor baby had to wait for me to be able to get up and help her!!
In 93 we took her to Gainesville where they have the best veterinary
hospital in Florida. We were there 3 days with her while they spent over 3,000 of our dollars. They never found out what was really causing her seizures. They did find out that she had a rare form of anemia. She was not getting the good out of her food! They said she never would and they suggested we put her down with this anemia and the seizures!! No way was I going to put her down!! I felt like as long as she was alive she needed some one who cared and loved her so much!!! No matter what!. I started to cook for her and she did do a little better. She got fat and she was very happy when she wasn't having a seizure!! As the time went by she did start having less tho!!! By the end of her life she had not had one in almost 2 years!!! We walked and we played and we loved together for 7 whole years and that old kidney failure got her in the end!!
She was very expensive of us to keep but I would have given her my kidney if I could have!!! I love my dogs with all my heart!!!
Love coming your way, Zoie & Fern
