Joker was the sweetest dog you would ever have meet!!! He was so very gentle. He loved all other animals!! Coons, possums, fox, squirrels, cows, dogs and cats. He loved them all!!!!!!
If you came in the fence without permission he would bite a person but not an animal. Tom and I went on a vacation and boarded him at a kennel. When we came back, poor Joker was spilt from ear to ear and down his face. He had 17 stitches. The kennel had put him with another dog. That other dog tore into Joker and Joker never fought back. Joker held no anger
toured the other dog, but I DID!!! I was so mad!!!!!!!!!!
I apologize for this picture it is the only one I can find. I took 2 or 3 pictures of this quilt. This is the worst one. This is a quilt I made for the hospital here in town. The quilt club takes baby quilts to give to the ones that are premature or something is wrong with that baby. The club took quilts every month for the babies. I made probably 10 or 11 quilts for them before my life changing fall and had to quit the club.
It would be nice if you would leave a comment for me.
I really enjoy talking to you guys. I feel a real closeness in our blog community! Thank-you for that!!!
Bambi sends you tail wags, Happy sends you purrs and I my friends send you good wishes, Fern
I just posted a comment and then lost it.
ReplyDeleteHi Fern,
That such a horrid thing that happened to Joker. It makes me sick to think of it. I feel sorry for humble creatures that get attacked on by others. The people who were in charge sound pretty stupid in my book.
About the quilts, the one you showed is beautiful. And such a good cause, for the babies. I use to quilt, but no longer do. I still love quilts, and think they are a work of art.
Take care and give all your babies a hug from us!
Eeesh! What kind of dumb dog hotel puts strange doggies together? I sometimes worry that my idiot brother doesn't know how to fight back either, but when we go to camp I always stay in the kennel with him to protect him.

How sad for Joker...I would have been mad as a wet hen too!!! I hope you didn;t have to pay for his boarding or stitches...
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is lovely...the blue stars are so bright and cheery!
Hugs, Kit
Poor Joker! I would have been furious too. How stupid of the kennel people to put two strange dogs together!!
ReplyDeleteOi Vee! Poor Joker - I hope that kennel took care of everything and apologised profusely! Poor little angel - people can be so dense!
ReplyDeleteD went to visit a kennel once - she was going to put me in it - but thankfully she took one look at the dogs on either side and said NO WAY! She cancelled her trip - she booked it again when we found our pet sitter - she is very nice and feeds me lots of junk food.
That quilt is lovely - that was very sweet of you to make those quilts for babies in need.
Lots of licks
Sally and Paddy
How awful for Joker! We feel so badly for him! What a stupid thing for them to have done!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt! Mom says getting those star points to be precise is no easy task! Nice job, Fern!
Love ya lots

Hi Fern
ReplyDeleteHow awful for poor Joker. I am glad it did not make him a scaredy cat.
I love your off-kilter stars, great colors. Blue is my favorite color for quilts.
Give your critters a pet for us.
Heidi, Tucker and Daisy
That is horrible news. What were those idiot kennel people thinking?! Hopefully they paid for the vet bills and then some. Poor Joker.
ReplyDeleteThe star quilt is beautiful! Mom brought a Hawaiian quilt back from Hawaii. She won't let us sleep on it though... hmpf.
Hi Fern I was so sad to read about Joker.
ReplyDeleteWhat a stupid kennel. Good grief. Joker did have a sweet spirit and left you with many memories.
The quilt is beautiful. I'm so sorry your fall was so bad you had to stop quilting. I pray you will be able to return to it soon. You do beautiful handwork.
Madi and Mom
Hi Fern,
ReplyDeleteWhat an awful experience for Joker - that kennel should have been reported to the BBB or something - my Vet won't even put my dogs in the same kennel together, much less with a strange dog.
Love the quilt - star patterns are my favorite.
Lynn
Good Grief! What were these people thinking!
ReplyDeleteThank God Joker survived!
There are a group of ladies in our town that hand make heirloom quality christening gowns for babies born to mothers with no family or with family difficulties. Hand embroidery, handmade lace. Just beautiful.
Hi everyone,
ReplyDeleteDo you know Kari??? She has left 3 or 4 comments and I do not know who she is and I would like to get to know her.
Fern
Hello - no I am not sure how to reach Sasha! I hope all is ok with her - sorry I cannot be of more help
