A few days ago Rocky Creek Scottie Adventures gave us an award! Thank-you we think... There is 10 questions to be answered. Lynn answered the questions in the dogs voice. I can not do that, because Bambi does NOT watch T V period. She is a very smart girl and knows that, that is just a picture and it means nothing! Even if there are dogs or cats or birds, she says that is just a picture, means nothing to me!! So I will have to answer the questions in my voice. There are too many questions to answer in one post, so it will take maybe two posts......
1-Hottest movie star? Lynn said Patrick Swayze. Bless his heart, he is really sick!! He use to be one of my favorite, but he does not look so good lately. So I guess it would have to be Brad Pitt.
2-Apart from house & car, what is the most important item you ever acquired? That would have to be my sewing machine!
3-What is your most treasured memory? The day I married Tom!!!
4-What is the best gift you ever received as a child? That is very hard to answer for me. I was raised in the little trailer with no room for much of anything. I got one small thing for Christmas each year. Usually it was something to wear. The year we got to Florida my folks gave me a wooden train car. I do not remember it well enough to say what car it was. My Grandmother, Dads Mother, sent me a red satin dress!! I did love that dress!
5-What is the biggest mistake you every made? Marrying my first husband......
That is all for to day! Thank-you so much for coming to see me. I love to have visitors. My online friends are so very important to me!!!!!!!
Love you all, Fern

Our Rescue Dog Bambi
Really all my dogs have been rescue dogs. That is what is right for me. This little baby would have died if I have not come along when I did. That was 11 years and almost 6 months ago. Bambi will turn 12 years old sometime in October. We just celebrate the whole month!! She only has one problem and that is, she has started growing fleshy, fatty bumps. The vet says they are not dangerous.
Every night at dinner time this is what she does while we are getting dinner ready. She is busy too!!

Solar Panels
This picture you can see the gate some. The Hydrangea's here are about a month later than the picture in the last post. But you can see the gate a little. Tom put up a post to hold the solar panel. There is one on each side of the gate. Two poles, two solar panels. He did this in 93 so when we drove in or out we did not have to get out and open the gate drive through then get out again and close the gate. It was such a luxury. We had that luxury until July 08 when lightening struck it! 15 years it worked.. We have not fixed it because it would cost over 500.00
$. So Tom gets out and opens the gate.

I have pictures I can not find I want to show you. I will keep looking..

By the front gate
This is the view from the drive way as you drive up to the front gate. I have a climbing rose on the other side of the gate. I do have a picture of it some where.
Below is my Viking one plus. Tom has built me a clear table that fits my machine of lexan so when I sew or quilt it is all even as it would be if in a cabinet. I don't have a picture if that yet.
He only made that for me about eight years ago.
I hope those of you that has not seen my love vest will go back and take a look and comment, and if you are not a follower, please push my follow button. Thank-you for coming, and come again soon.

My Love vest
My followers have wanted to see what I am sewing and of course I am not sewing anything because of the fall. So I dug up some older pictures.
Here is the vest I made/quilted in honor of Amanda. The vest is embroidered on my Viking one plus. I bought a rose disk that had 16 different rose patterns on it. Then embroidered some on the material, quilted the material. On the back I made an appliqued shape of Amanda out of a white fleece, hand embroidered her eyes and light colored tan with free motion stitching, oh yes also her mouth. The vest was quilter with a heavy thread of gold and silver.
I made everything I am wearing, even the slacks. I am sorry the pictures are not better, it is a pretty vest.
I hope you have enjoyed the post to night. Please push my follow button if you are not a follower. Leave a comment and come back soon. Love you all, Fern

When I was little!
I do not sleep much! I have always had a problem sleeping. Right now it is in part because I am hurting all the time. I get so tired of hurting! But back to the story!! When I was born, as soon as I came home from the hospital, Mother started to take me to the bar where my Dad worked.
Taking me into that dirty air full of smoke. Mother took me to the bar until I was 2 years old. The people told Mother that I could not come anymore, she had to stay home with me. She did not stay home with me, she just left me home alone in the little trailer! I was so afraid because she told me before she left that the bad man would come and eat me if I got out of bed....
Then she left me alone to wait for the bad man to come and eat me!!! I was left alone for the rest of my young life. Of course the bad man did not come. I was lucky!! My Tom says that, that should not affect me anymore and he is right, but it still does! Tell me I am crazy!
Thank-you for being here to help me! I love you all, Fern

Pictures of 2 of my Critters
Bambi loves her crate. It came with her from the kennel. At that time she was a little puppy and the crate was really too big. She soon grew into it, and than , she was a little too big for her crate and I thought about getting her a bigger one. I have never gotten a bigger one, because she seems to love it that way. Bambi acts as tho she loves a tight fit. Bambi spends all her time in the crate, the time she is in the house. When I sit and watch TV she will be next to my feet. When I am busy or sleeping she will be in her crate. With the exception of when dinner is almost ready, than she is on the rug right next to the kitchen table. Bambi really loves her crate!!
My special coon, Pretty Boy. He is 7 years old. I wish he would come everyday, but he does not.
I worry about him when he hasn't come in weeks. I have thought many times that I had lost him. Then he shows up, and I will sing right out Hes alive!!!. He will come right up to me and want to eat out of the container I take out full of Walmart dog food. He and his sister, Pretty Girl are the only 2 coons that will do that. I think in their minds it makes them special. They are my oldest coons. Years ago I would have said that coons only lived about 2 or 3 years because that was how long they lived when I was not feeding enough food to keep them satisfied. They were having to go look for food other places, and in doing so they got in trouble and got killed. Now I try to feed enough to keep them around home and out of trouble.
Thanks for coming to visit. Come again soon. I will be back on Monday .
Love you all, Bambi, coons, and Fern

Happy & Bambi on patio
It has been HOT here too! The people are feeling it, and the animals are feeling it! Everyday the weather man says rain and everyday it will sprinkle or just drip a little. Get steamy and hotter. Here you see Happy and Bambi laying on the patio trying to beat the heat.
They have been doing a subscribed burn and we have the smoke to put up with, that is burning
30 miles away. Such is life! I hope you have enjoyed the picture today. I
am still learning to put pictures on the blog.

How Bambi got her name
Bambi came to us from the animal shelter. She was a very sick puppy. I took her to the vets the very next day. He said she was a day or two from dying from kennel cough. She came with the name Brandy. The people at the kennel called her that. My Tom and I are non drinkers.
Never drink ever. So I wanted her to be a non drinker too. Bambi sounded very much like Brandy. So Bambi it was! She never acted like she noticed. She as always answered to her name. That is how Bambi got her name.
Thanks for coming. You are always welcome. Hugs Bambi and Fern

Peppers
I forgot to mention the peppers. They are in another spot that is not as pretty a spot. We have five peppers plants. I love stir fry and put the peppers in all the stir fry dishes. Sorry I forgot to mention them. We did not start them our self. A friend that has another shop in the complex where Tom's shop is, gave him the peppers plants when they were little plants. They are producing well.

This years containers garden
This is this years containers garden. We have 3 cherry tomatoes plants, which have been very good this year!! Two basil plants. Two chives plants. One thyme and one parsley, flat leaf plant.
This container garden has done really well. We started them all out by seed. We did not loose even one seed plant. I am going to harvest the basil tomorrow. Wash it well and put it in a towel to dry. Then into the food processor with olive oil and process until just right then into plastic bags and in the freezer. It will be ready to use to put in pesto or in cooking or soup. The basil will leaf out for another crop before the season is over.
I want to thank everybody for all your support on my last post. It means so much to me!
Thank-you!!
Hugs Fern

A Story with no pictures!
The last time I told you a story of my young life it shocked you. I really need to talk about it tho.
I had an eye that turned in to the nose. There was also no real sight in that eye. My Mother was OK with my eye but my Dad wanted to have something done to try to fix it. The people he worked for had friends in N Y C that knew a doctor that was at the top of his field. They said they would get in contact with him and see what he thought about my eye. That doc told them to have my Dad call him . To make a long story short I ended up with one operation one year and another the next year. It was state of the art surgery of the 40s. The doctor fixed the look of my eye but couldn't fix the sight because there was no sight to begin with. The doctor tied both eyes together by the nerves, so that when I look at you both eyes will look at you. My good eye pulls the bad eye so I look normal.
That was just one of my problems my Mother gave me.
It will be interesting to see if people comment on this story or not. Did I scare you all away? I do not mean to. I just need to talk about all my problems.
Until next time, Fern

A Truck that Tom built
One of the trucks Tom has built is Big Red. This picture was taken before it's trip to the paint shop. Tom built and modified everything on that truck. The owner wanted a strong truck to go mudding and hunting with. Tom designed a special gas tank for it that he put in the bed of the truck. It took 2 years to finish building the whole truck.
The day Tom took the pictures, he wanted to show the size and height of the truck. Tom has built bigger trucks and I think he has pictures of most of them, but I was there that day and able to get in the picture.
I hope you enjoyed seeing this wheely for the week.

Today's pictures
While we were out in the yard today I took a few pictures. Here are a couple. Happy likes to walk with us when we go out to put fresh water out. She sometimes like to walk around the yard with us also. Happy likes to stay close to her dog and to her human.
Bambi and I use to go to a park to walk everyday. We both enjoyed it very much, but I can not drive anymore because I can not turn my head. We are suck at home now. We have 3 acres to walk on so it is not all bad.
