Our predator killed again last night

The big bad Predator killed again last night.  I feel so sorry for the poor babies that have died from her mouth .!!! A possum last light at a little after 9:30Pm.  It was a full grown possum too. She is so quick!!!  It is over for those critters really fast.  Zoie doesn't mess around at all.  She kills fast!!!  That is one good thing!!!
The mosquitoes here are so bad that we can't spend a lot of time outside in the day time--they eat US A LIVE!!!!  We have to get some walking in after dark to get any exercise at all hardly!!!
Didn't get any pictures Darn!!!
Possum's are really not as bad as people think they are, they just act like they are bad.  Most are not pretty either, poor babies!!!
The ticks are getting really bad now too.  I am getting at least one a day now!!!  How are the ticks in your neighborhood?????
Love coming your way, Zoie & Fern

  1. If only Zoei killed mosquitoes...
Thankfully there have been no ticks. Although I did find (and kill) ONE flea on Whisky.

  2. Hi Fern, my dad's been on a long business trip so my mom's been filling in. Gee, that's not so good for the possums. I'm not sure if we have those up here but we do have mosquitoes and ticks. So far, luckily we haven't run into those things.

    1. My guess possums and coons couldn't survive your winters so that is why you don't have them up there!!!
Glad Mom is helping keep you plugged in the internet while Dad is away!!!

  3. Ticks are bad here too, and so are the mosquitoes. I sat on the porch this morning and practically got carried away.

I'm really, really sorry that your girl has such a high prey drive, but if she's going after something, at least its end comes quickly and you're not left with a wounded animal.....

Stay cool, and enjoy your Monday!!

  4. Get Zoie to kill the mosquitoes and you'd have it made. Sorry it distresses you so much. Not sure what to say. As you know I stalk critters too. I have not killed to many, but still it has happened. I have even killed 3 cats about 5 years ago. Can't tell ya what makes me and Zoie do it. I have not ever had a tick on me. MOM has had a few when she lived in Virginia. But we have not had any here that I know of. They say our cold cold winters kills them off. But I am sure there are a few around.
    Blessings,
    Goose

  5. Up here the ticks are the worst in May - spring. Don't know why, but they are. Usually at this time of year we don't have to worry too much. Poor Zoe - she's just doing what comes natural! I too feel sorry for the babies, but what can you do. The only option is to tie her up or pen her, and that seems like a cruel thing to do to Zoe too since she's used to having all that space.

    1. No, I will not tie her or kennel her ever!!! The critters will just have to learn or die-- it's up to them!!!! This is Zoie's yard not theirs!!!

  6. The Critters will soon learn to stay away.
We are having MORE ticks NOW than we did back in the Spring. THAT is very unusual. It is due to the drought.

    1. This has been a very unusual year for everything!!! At least here!!!!
They say Tallahassee has never had this number of mosquitoes ever but I was in the Daytona area in 57 and they were so bad like here then!!

  7. The possums need to learn that this is Zoie's yard and to stay away. Our ticks are bad too but we don't have the mosquito problems that you do, Fern. UGH!

    Love ya lots,

    1. I know I know I am taking my life in my hands or I should say their hands just going out in the yard to walk Zoie and to tend the garden and we are doing as little as possible of that!!!!!!!

  9. I'm not allowed to kill animals other than my stuffies. My humans are very strict about that. Sometimes when they're not watching I eat dead ones. Yum. Though I have to be a saint, my humans are allowed to kill mozzies. A bit unfair if you ask me. Watch out for those ticks!

    1. I agree it is unfair that they can and you can't!!! Just not fair!!! LOL

  12. This may be the worst year we have seen for ticks. A walk through the woods and we have to check our clothes and bodies.

  13. Poor possum!! Years ago my cat brought in a baby possum. I put it back outside about a dozen times, once per day, but Rocky just kept catching it. Then I had to leave for vacation. Guess what I found when I returned? And no, the possum wasn't playing dead, he was dead for real. :-(
