It is HOT HOT HOT

Friends we are still eating strawberries from the garden everyday!!! They just keep giving and giving. We have had to share with the coons and who ever else is robbing the garden every night. But we still have had plenty for us and I'll tell you we never get tired of them!!
It has been so hot the coons can't sleep through the day so they are up and about. It has been 98 or above for over 2 weeks and no rain. We are 15 and a half short of rain fall so far this year.
We have been having a low temperature of 82 to 85 at night.
This is just one pot of our purple basil. We have three. This stuff is sososo good if you like basil and you have a chance try some for sure try some!!!!!
After Bambi got well from kennel cough we started our longer walks. She loved our walks and she got a lot of them. In the beginning we would go to parks. She was so happy!!
I work in the gardens 2 to 3 hours every day and it is so hot I am dripping wet when I come in from the garden and it not from water from sweat !!!

Love coming your way, Fern

  1. Whew, Miss Fern. I started panting just READING how hot you are! I think it's pretty bad when the raccoons come out during the daytime!

Oh, and mom says she thinks the phone part of the iPhone is pretty good so far. But she hasn't talked too much on it yet. I wouldn't know first-paw since she won't let me use it.

  2. Oh yes, basil in a salad is yummy! Never cared for strawberries, though, but my mother loved them! Stay cool, Fern, and don't overdo in the heat. It's hot here, too.

  3. Our local strawberries are mostly gone but they really were good this year. I've never heard of purple basil but sweet basil is our favorite herb, especially with the ripe tomatoes. I'm going to look for some purple and give it a try.

Try to stay cool until the weather breaks!

  4. Miss Fern, if it's that hot, stay inside where it's cool! The garden will still be there when the weather breaks!

Can't believe the racoon was so bold!

  13. Hi, it's still a bit cool up here. It'll probably be another 3 weeks before there are strawberries. We've had a long, cool, wet Spring. But there's lots of grass and I like nibbling on it. Dad says it's like salad for me.
