Me and my dog

A friend sent me an email the other day and in it was this story about a dog.  The title of the story was
"Just a dog".   My Mother use to say "Oh she is just a dog"!!!!  Like that was nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wanted to put that story  on my blog but I don't know how!!  It was so beautiful.......
I feel sorry for those that have never loved a dog!!!!!  Never given their heart to a dog and that dog given their heart right back to you!!!!! The love is so true and complete!!!  It is hard for me to put into words the love I have for dogs!!  I think I am part DOG!!!!  I think that is a good thing too!!   I love very strong too, just like a dog.  When I was a little girl I had no friends but I had a dog!!!! She was part of me and I was part of her!!!  It killed me when they gave her away to just anybody!!!!!!!!!!!  Killed me!!

Love coming your way,  Zoie & Fern

  1. I'm sorry for what had happened to you and your beloved dog when you were a little girl. It hurt! However, I'm so glad that you've found so many other dogs that you love and they love you truly later in your life.

    Beautiful post, Miss Fern!

    1. Priscilla, thank-you!! I do love dogs-- all dogs!! Even Tinker, I loved her so much and it broke my heart to have to let her go back to the rescue group but I knew I could never keep her home and she would have gotten run over in the road if she kept getting out!! She is happy now with a lady who runs everyday 5 mile with her!!

  2. I'm sorry they gave your doggie away. She was Most Beautiful and I can tell you loved her lots. But then you took all that love and gave it to other doggies who needed it and that's a BEAUTIFUL thing!

  3. No, they most certainly aren't "just dogs"!! I'm sorry you suffered through that.

  4. I'm sorry this happened to you, Fern. I think you said it...you love deeply, just like doggies do.

  5. That's a terrible thing to do...giving away your dog. I never really had friends when I was young and my pets were my best companions. :)

  6. Hey Fern!
Wow, you were such a beautiful little two legger! No wonder you grew up so pretty and such a strong dog lover. None of us are "just" anything...we are all special in our own way. Super post today!

  7. What a horrible thing to do, to give away a child's beloved friend. Some people just don't "get" the kind of connection that true animal lovers can have with a pet. My cats will never ever be "just cats" and I would take a bullet for them. I'm glad you have such a special connection with the beautiful four legged ones that have found you.

  10. Hi Fern, we know that now that you're bigger and older, that you love dogs almost as much as you love Tom. I know that you were bitten and roughed up by dogs that you've had in the past and still you would have accepted it and still loved the dog. I don't know too many people who would do that. You're a good person Fern and I bet that Zoie knows that she's a lucky dog. We still love that little girl picture of you.

  11. As a fellow animal lover I totally agree that a dog is NEVER "just a dog." Loved the little girl Fern with her dog.

  12. It is horrible when adults don't understand the loving relationship a child can have with a pet. Sometimes the relationship is closer than a sibling one!!

    1. Especially when that child has no sibling or friends. That dog is their only companion!!!!!!!!! Mom & Dad sleep all day and Tippie was all I had!!!

  13. You are very kindhearted. I can feel how sad you were when they gave your dog away, even if it happened years ago. Was she your first dog? Dogs are very touching creatures. What makes them very special as pets is that a dog’s love to its owner is unconditional. There is something heartwarming about seeing your dog happy when you get home from work or school.
