Trying to stay healthy

Hi Friends, Tom and I use to go out to eat every week-end! I did say use to. We don't any more.
In 03 I got sick and came very close to dying!!! Too close ! In 04 I got sick and again came way too close to dying. We decided that if we wanted to keep me around we better stay home!! Tom stated doing all the grocery shopping. We bought a new stove. The idea was to keep me away from germs and get healthy!!!!!! We started trying to eat organic food and way less meat. This getting healthy has taken a good while. But it is working!! This is just the start of flu season, I know. I hope to make another season without getting sick b/c if I do it will be 5 years without getting a cold or the flu!!!!!!! We are what we eat!!! For those of you who have to shop, wear gloves that you can throw away or wash everything you are out and about. That is what I have been doing for all these years when I go with Tom to get groceries.

Hope your day is going well!! Love coming your way.

  1. Good idea! We've been fortunate to stay pretty healthy, but I know all about food-born illnesses. No fun.

  2. This is so true - we are what we eat! I've noticed now that I'm 55 my body is getting more and more susceptible to things like High BP, weight-gain, flu, virus etc. BUT even just days after changing bad eating habits my blood pressure decreases and I feel better all over. Great post!! Now if I can just act on it....

  3. Fern, we want you to stay healthy. I think one of the worst things to handle is the handle on a grocery cart!

  4. Good for you, Fern. We hope you have a very healthy year ahead of you. Our mom tries to stay healthy too, but it isn't always easy with all the little grandbipeds around. Hope you all had a nice weekend.

  6. Very true, Fern...wash, wash, wash! We ate out just last Thursday night and a little boy in the booth behind my husband threw up! All I could think about was the germs everywhere! I wash all the time.
