My Rescue Dog Bambi

Hi blog friends!! We are having another HOT day!! It really gets old!!!!!

I have spent the morning trying to load pictures and blogger is being stubborn!! So no pictures today. I wanted to blog about my sweet girl Bambi. Bambi is not sick. In fact for a girl almost 13 years old, she is in very good shape. (Not thanks to any vet tho) Three years ago she started getting little lumps here and there on her body. At first they were small as time went by some of them got bigger. After a year we decided to have surgery on 5 of the bigger ones. The vet said it can from her family tree. By the time she was healing up from the surgery they where coming back!! So that was not the answer!!! Time went by and the lumps kept coming. I started to feel them a 100 times a day!!! I noticed they changed with what she ate. Which said to me that diet was the cause. The vet called the lumps (Know I can't spell worth a darn so it might be spelled wrong) lyfoma. That is not spelled right but that is how is sounds. I put her on a diet with no wheat or corn in everything she eats. She eats nothing that is made for a dog!!! Nothing!!
It has been almost 2 months now that she has been on her diet. Some of the lumps have GONE.. Some are much smaller!!! Her coat is better, her skin is better, she has lost a couple of pounds!!! She loves her new diet. This last thing at the vets was b/c she has some little lumps on her right foot between her toes and when she walks a pretty good bit she limps, they were bothering her!! The vet didn't want to drain them but Tom told him to, so he did. The bandage is to keep her from chewing on her foot. The lumps have NOT come back and I don't think they will!!!
So now if you read the whole thing you know that Bambi is not sick, thank the Lord!!!!!!
I love it when you come a leave comments for me!!!
Love company that I don't have to clean house for!!!
Love coming your way, Bambi Fern

  1. Isn't it nice that you don't have to clean and cook for us - I feel the same way.

  2. Hi Fern, So glad the diet change helped Bambi-I wonder if you went raw(as in chicken)or just feeding her cooked chicken. We gave our dogs frozen raw food for awhile but that is when Sadie ended up with her cancer so I decided to stop that. We've had to give Reggie boiled chicken occasionally. I'm so glad that Bambi is doing so well.
Hugs to you today my friend.

  5. We tried all sorts of foods and we are now taste of the wild salmon flavor. 3 out of the 4 have improved dramatically while the slacker is slowing looking better each day. Even the cats like it. Can you imagine, two Boston's, a Malinois and a cat at the same two bowls. They all do fine. Glad your baby is doing well. I swear by the better foods. I wish I could afford the raw or go au natural from my own kitchen. Take care. Tazzy

  7. We think the vet means "lipoma". They are benign growths of fat. People get them too.
Glad her change in diet has helped. It is not only yummy but good for her too. Love to all.
