The most beautiful Quilt That I have ever seen and my Son

This is the most beautiful quilt that I have ever seen!!! I know lots of you have seen this quilt before and if you follow my blog it will not be the last time you will ever see it. I was so fortunate to watch this quilt being made!!!! I loved the maker of the quilt. She was a good friend. She lost her husband to the rainbow bridge. She was so lost!! About a year after losing her hubby she started this quilt. It took all most a year to do. She didn't have anything else to think about. She worked day and night on it. It was shown in 3 quilt shows. All three it won best of show!!! The last show it was in was in Paduca Ky. in April 99. She died of cancer in November 99. I miss her!!!
Some of you ask me if my son the chef cooked for me when he came home??? No he doesn't.
Don use to cook for us when he was in school. When he was a boy he was interested in cooking and baking!! He use to cook dinner once in a while but he baked often!!! The first cooking job he got was baking all the desserts in the restaurant. He went on to work at other places but always came back to the one restaurant that he is now the head chef. The first restaurant he ever worked in.
Thanks for coming to visit me!!!
Love coming your way, Fern

  3. That is one beautiful quilt, with such a sad wee story to go with it. Or not sad, something beautiful came out of her sorrow.

I hope your son cooks you stuff now and then.

  5. Wow, Fern, I had a lot of reading to do to catch up on all your blog posts! I was on vacation with my husband and mother-in-law for a week. It was good to get back and read about what you've been doing. It's hot here, too. High 90's but I stay inside where it's cool and only go out for a few minutes to let Tootie do her business. Then we rush back in where it's cool. Stay cool, Fern!

  8. What a beautiful quilt. Thanks for sharing it with us and the story that goes with it. It's hot here in PA, too, with lots of humidity...but I'm sure you're used to that!! We try to stay inside and get walks in early in the morning and after the sun sets at night. That makes it bearable. have a great day and stay cool!H

  10. Hi Fern. That IS a beautiful quilt. I understand why it is so special to you ... knowing the make makes it even more prized.

Now. On another topic. We think your son should share his gift of baking with you. At least every once in a while!

    Just our opinion,
    Jake and Fergi xxoo
