Hair Days

That is me sitting on a tiger when I was about 8 or 9 years old. One of the questions on the award I got from Ninny's Notes was what was you worst hair day?
Now that question is a story all in itself.
I was born with very fine hair!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had hair dressers say it was the finest they had ever seen. My hair is straight!!! When I was a young girl I had a lot of it!! My Grandma wanted me to get permanents. She didn't want me to have straight hair. So once a year I got a permanent!
For as many years as she could control it. My Grandma lived a long life so it was pretty ingrained in me!!

I was in my forties before the proms stopped.......... But the damage had been done!!! I had started losing my hair!! Losing My Hair!!!!! OMG !!!!!
My Grandma suffered the same fate. It did not save me though!! What is my worst hair day!!!
EVERYDAY!!!! By the time my Grandma was my age she was almost bald. Well I am not that bad yet!!! I do have a bald spot right in the middle of my hair and it is very thin on top of my head. I don't go out without a hat on!!!!!!! What is the worst hair day you have ever had???
Everyday!!!!!!
Now you know my hair troubles!!!!
Love heading your way, Fern

  1. Oh gosh Fern, I've had a bad hair life!! My hair is so curly, I can never do anything with it - isn't it funny, we always want the opposite of what we have. But at my age now, I wouldn't know what to do with straight hair!!

    Have a great day,
    Lynn

  3. I fern, A great story! A bad hair day doesn't stand out in my memory cause I don't have unusal hair I guess. But I am lucky to still have lot's of thick hair into my 60's. Have a great day, Mistaya and Gail

  4. Fern-
Wow! Back in the 70's, I tried many celebrity hairdos! The biggest disasters were the Farrah Fawcett do and the Barbara Streisand (afro from 'A Star is Born')! When you have straight hair, afros just don't work!
But the Dorothy Hamill hair worked pretty good!

  6. Great pic! I have really fine hair also. So I just keep it short and spike it up! I use to get perms but no more! Too much work and I am just lazy....ha ha! Nice and hot in MN today and Rem is sacked out in front of the air conditioning vents watching Gunsmoke. What a guy....take care and keep smiling.

  7. Well, Fern I see that I'm in good company....I, too, have thin straight hair. My mother was a beautician, so my sis and I got more than our share of permanents! I hated them! Now I have just learned to go with it and enjoy my thin, fine, straight hair. Not much else I can do! LOL

My mom used to give me perms and it always frizzed my hair. I'm with you, NO MORE PERMS!!!

  10. Oh my cat a tiger.. Mumsays she tried allthe perm things too a good few years ago, her hair is thick and grows vey fast, so although short it has to be cut and shaped every few weeks as it loses its style. We are all so different but then that is good I think.. Hugs GJ xx

  11. Oh Fern! A tiger! A real tiger! Goodness what a wonderful experience. Do you still remeber it? For me, it woud be the experience of a life time. Do tell us more!
Bad hair life would be more like it for me. I have to watch that I don't sit under lights in restraunts or you can see my scalp! My granny was almost bald when she passed and my mum has just a few whisps left. It's genetic, I'm afraid. I know I'd look much younger if I had more hair. Thin hair is very aging.
