Amanda came after Joker left
We really missed Joker after he died of kidney failure! We wanted another Joker. We had no way of finding another. We called the rescue places in town and the shelter and of course there was no Greyhound, Ibsen Hound, and no whippet. We waited for a month or so then as if an answer to our prayers an piece in the papers about a Greyhound rescue place in Thomasville Ga
The following week-end we went to Ga to the place that had greyhounds. I ask if she ever had any Ibsen's and she said no ever!! First she showed me all the greyhounds she had and none really did anything for me. Then she took us in to her office and in there was two Whippets. One was Amanda and she and I clicked!! The other was her brother. The rescue lady had gotten the two whippets from a place that had a kennel full of whippets . The woman died that owned the whippet kennel and left 17 dogs. The Thomasville lady had only gotten 2 of them. It was love at first sight with Amanda and me!!! I couldn't have her until she was spayed so we had to wait for 2 weeks before we could go back and bring her home.
Amanda was 4 and a half years old and a jewel!!! She was wonderful from day one!! She never did anything wrong. Tiger loved her from day one!! Amanda had never been around a cat before and she was a little afraid of him at first but within 2 days they were like two peas in a pod! They slept together. They did almost everything together.
Amanda would chase a squirrel and she did catch one or two over the 7 and a half she spent with us. She was so good if the front gate was left open she would never go out. She knew she had a good home.
This is only part 1. I will continue the next time I blog!!
