Goods from the garden even in the Winter

Hi friends, We go to the farmers market ( well Tom gos) (sometimes I go too) every week and sometimes two times a week!! We or he,,, brings home the best stuff!! Even in the winter we here in Florida produce vegetables year around. In the Tallahassee area people that have green houses and then further south just right out in the field.
What is your favorite dish for super?? Ours is by far a stir fry with lots of greens and peppers hot and sweet, and root vegetables!!!! Of course we love squash too!! We love vegetables and I make a home made soup every week of the year!! Never miss a week!! I love a small bowl of soup just before bed at night, it puts me in the mood for sleep.

Love coming your way, Happy , Bambi & Fern

  2. We love going to the farmer's market! I even go and help Mom get stuff there. We have our own garden, too, but we don't get much out of it after September most years.

One of our favorite dishes right now is Albondigas, and we love making panini. Well, we dogs supervise the making of these things!

  3. A good hot homemade soup sounds great to Mom right about now. She wishes she had access to a good farmer's market, a lot of the veggies here are not so good. Right now the lettuce, celery and cukes are terrible. We would love to hear about the soups you make.

  9. There is nothing like homemade soup! My Mom used to just open the fridge and throw everything in--It was delicious, and I really miss it--I also miss being able to get fresh veggies this time of year--We are at the mercy of the grocery store...It's not the same, is it?

  10. Hi Fern-

We don't have a greenhouse here on our land. The temps dip into the 20's so our garden is done for now. We have potatoes and onions out in the barn still and a new crop of garlic in the ground. We will be planting spinach in a month or so, spring is around the corner!

  12. We are fortunate to have fairly mild weather here in South Texas also, so we can have gardens the year round....Mama hasn't had her own garden though, since she sold her house back in 1999.

Our mama LOVES vegies, but us boys prefer fish and chicken.....:)

  17. A good soup in the winter is our favorite!! As a matter of fact, I'm making black bean soup on Sunday using some of our canned tomatoes and served with homemade bread. You're really lucky to have fresh produce - too cold here for that, but come spring, we'll be planting our garden again.
