Our Frist house here and Chicken Quilt

This is the first house we bought when we first moved to town. The two in the picture is David and the first husband working in the yard. I love big houses!! I have lived in two. This was the second big one. I only lived in both 2 and a half years. I think that is very strange, the same time period for both houses in two different cities, two different time periods.
I like chickens! Oh I like all animals!! I would have loved to have had chickens at one time in my life. When I was a lot younger I could have cared for them, now I could not. Tom says my job now is to really heal before I start to think I am all well and re- injure myself. I have done that every time since 07. I will not do that again if I can help it.
I have a whole box of pictures that were taken in Holly Hill, when we lived in my dream house. I want to show you that house and I have been looking for them for 2 months now.
I will keep looking!!!
Thanks for coming!!!
I have a question? What am I doing wrong??? Other blogs have so many followers and so many comments. I keep losing followers and don't have lots of comments. What am I doing wrong?
Love my followers!!!! Thanks soooo much!!!
Fern

  1. Hi Fern,

I don't think you've done anything wrong. Has anyone ever introduced you? If not, I'll do it on my blog tomorrow. You can email me and let me know. When I first started Maggie and Mitch were so kind to me and introduced me to everyone. And that is how I got a lot of followers and then we had a contest and that got a lot more. And we visit a lot during the day -that helps too.

    Best of luck,
    Lynn

  3. Mmm... chickens.

Don't worry about followers Fern, people get busy and come and go. Mama sometimes gets busy to comment (apparently a lot of people do) even though they visit.

    Love,

  5. Hi Fern! Hey how'd you know it was me here? Is that some neat trick I haven't figured out yet? That chicken quilt is to die for! If you saw my dining room you'd know I'm wild over roosters and chickens. Never had any, but love the cheerful color they bring to the room. I will try to get back to read more later. Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Hey Fern,

That is a beautiful chicken quilt! My chickens are quite funny little creatures and I enjoy them. They're very easy to take care of and they give my yummy, fresh eggs.

I've been blogging for a year now and the most comments I ever got on a post was 9. I don't understand the whole "following" thing. I think a lot of people visit blogs and just don't leave comments.

  7. Hi Fern!

I just found your blog and it is beautiful, all the quilts, especially the Angel Quilt.I like hearing about u and your family. I especially agree with your post about talking to your animals. I love animals too! I have two Shih tzu dogs. One is 3 years old and one is 4 months old. Teddy is the youngest and I've nicknamed him Toto. Louie, the oldest, had a brother Sam, My Baby, who died early this past June 11,09, w/kidney failure. This has been a sad summer for my family. They are my babies. I had a special connection w/Sam and miss him terribly. Teddy is Louie's new brother. It is a little "hard" getting use to a puppy again. But he is sweet and very active. The vet said he is healthy. Visit my blog sometime, I write about knitting, family, I consider my Shih Tzus family members (babies). Your stories are very nice. I live in NC. My Dad and his wife lives in South Flordia. I am a friend through blogging to Rocky Creek Scotties. Take care and glad I found you and your beautiful blog. / Tammy

  8. What a beautiful chicken quilt, Fern! Mom and dad used to have chickens before they got us and they had fresh eggs every day! The chickens used to eat mom's red salvia flowers in the summer, which did NOT make her happy. I guess the free eggs were the trade off!

    Love ya lots

  12. Hi Fern,
The Rocky Creek Scotties sent us over to say hello. I'm an animal lover, too. I have ten dogs and two birds and a very understanding husband. The quilts are all beautiful. I'm partial to the frog quilt because I collect frogs.

  15. Hi Fern - the Rocky Creek Scotties sent us over - we are very pleased to meet you! We love the chicken quilt - D buys a lot of old quilts and blankets - she tried making one once but it went horribly wrong and ended in a lot of screaming...so now she buys them. Safer for everyone, we think, but your Angel quilt is beautiful - definitely Best of Breed

  16. See! We told you we'd work our way backwards or forwards from the beginning, or whatever! You've just inspired Moma to pull out the box of quilt pieces that were her Gramma's. And the finish quilting an applique quilt that Gramma started but didn't finish. Oh dear. This is what makes getting to everyone's blogs to comment so challenging! So many projects ... so little time!

    We'll be back!
