Septic tank troubles

We had a good time buying a weeks worth of groceries and really not spending a dime of money Tom had not earned during the week!!!   Bless his heart!!! 100.00$ really doesn't go far with everything costing so much!!!!  We got enough for the week tho!!!
Times are really so hard for us right now. Tom had had 3 weeks with no money coming in. He should finish a job this week and get paid for it. So the way things go is 3 weeks with no income and one week with some income-- we go further behind-- it drives me mad!!!!!
When shopping we bought no meat-- a dozen eggs only.

Septic Tank!!!!!  OH Lord help us!!!  Right after Zoie left us Tom was in the yard and found some water in a puddle by where the septic is and said to me we have some big trouble!!! The water was clean looking and smelling so I was hopeful.  Tom started to dig by hand in red clay to see what had happened. The septic tank's pipe that comes out to the second tank had rotted away.  So for years our tank was not going in the second tank and then into the drain field.
WE can not afford someone to come and fix this so Tom is digging by hand--digging up the tanks and the drain field.  It is going to take months!!!!!  Bless his heart!!!!  Friends we still need your prayers!!!

Love coming your way. Fern

  2. We are thinking of you - we had the same problem years ago. The lady who built our house put the horse corrals over the lines and told us that they were elsewhere in the yard. The horses broke thru the lines - what a huge mess! Keeping paws crossed your problem will be fixed soon.

    1. Our tank itself is still in wonderful condition b/c we really work at taking good care of it. About 1o years ago we had to have the pipe replaced from the house to the first tank. This septic tank is 40 years old and the only thing we ever had to do for it was the new pipe. So now when there is NO MONEY we have to replace the pipes that go from tank to the second tank and the pipes that go out in the drain field.

  3. Hi Fern, oh Fern this isn't good news either. Maybe Tom could call in a few "favors" and have those people give him a hand digging. I know that a few of my doggy friends on the Internet are good diggers...

    1. In Bambi's younger days she would have been happy to help dig. Zoie was not a digger and either was any of my other dogs!!! Digging in red clay is no picnic!!! I don't think Tom will be able to talk any of his friends into helping--they are too old for that kind of work--of course Tom is too!!!!
Oh yes Tinker was a digger she would have helped!!! lol

  4. Fern, I'm so sorry to hear that - we just had to our our tank pumped - I don't know how much longer it will last as it is an old hand dug tank - our house is 114 years old.

    Blessings dear friend,

  5. Lynn we never put any paper down our drains. T- paper is kept and buried, out back of the fence. I think that is why it is in such good shape, that and we have a tank just for the washing machine. The soaps are very hard on septic systems.

  9. My heart jumped when I saw the words "septic tank." Anyone who has one knows how terrible it is when one fails. I'm hopeful that Tom will be able to repair it himself. That should save big $$ hopefully. Praying for a good resolve on this, Fern.

    1. Tom will be able to fix it himself but bless his heart it is going to take a lot of time. Months probably b/c it is such hard work for him digging by hand in red clay that is so thick and heavy!! Tom is not as old as I but he is really too old for this job but he feels he has to b/c we don't have the money to have someone else to fix it. We are not suffering not being able to flush or shower ect b/c Tom dug first a place for the water to go. So everything in the house is working like there is no problem. Thank you Lord!!! I have had a septic tank in every house I have ever lived in.
