Here are the kittens

Has anyone out there had kittens so young??  We have a constipation problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a girl and a boy ( I think) and the girl is the one in trouble big time.  She has been constipated as long as she has been with me.  We are on day 3 today. I think the boy is starting to get in trouble too!!!   Help!!!  I am going to call the vets in a few minutes at 8 am. The kittens are a big job!!!
They are so young.  Tom doesn't ever think they are 2 weeks old yet!!!
Well no one at the vets is answering yet!!
I'll keep you posted!!
Love coming your way,  Circle,  kittens,  & Fern

  1. Fern, the vet should give you good advice, but they are so young. have you tried baby food? I will try and send one of the fosterers over to give advice xox

  2. I heard with kittens so young you have to massage their little butts. A momma cat would lick their little butts until their body's learn how to do it themselves.

  3. So cute and...so little! I wonder if kittens are like puppies? Their Momma has to lick them to help them along. No...don't "lick" them, LOL, but maybe a q-tip soaked in warm water might help.

I'm sure the vet will be able to help you.

  4. Aren't they adorable! I'm sorry that I can't give any advice on how to raise young kitties as I haven't had any kitties before. I hope the vets can help.

  5. Good luck - we used to always massage their bottoms with a warm wash cloth (gently). Sometimes the formula causes it, but your vet should be able to help.

  6. It can be tough when they are this tiny..... mom has run a slow stream of warm water over their bums before and that works. But a vet call wouldn't hurt either - the little ones are just fragile without a mom. Paws crossed.

  7. Aw, poor kitties! I guess you could pretend to "lick" using a warm wet washcloth and be like the mama cat. I hope something works!!

  8. We surely can't help you with this problem but we see that you're getting good advice from friends and we hope the vet can help you out too, Fern. Paws are crossed for the adorable kittybabies!

    Love ya lots,

  9. I would not be worried on day three. concerned, yes, but not worried. Remember, with out good input there won't be good output.

Rubbing their bellies aids in digestion. If they don't even appear to want to go, try tapping instead of rubbing. I was shocked the first time I tried that how quickly it helped.

if the kitten appears to be struggling to go (crying, screaming, straining, anus bulging but nothing moving) then this would be a case for the vet.

it has been a while since I've had bottle only babies, but I used to deal with them all the time. Feel free to email me if you want support.

  10. Btw, you can tell age fairly easily at that age. If their cord is still on they are under a week, their eyes open after a week.
