Zoie is not happy about her surgery!!

She was brought home by her Dad just  3 and a half hours after her surgery!!!   She was very drunk!!!  It was really hard to get her out of the truck!!!  I had to hold her up to pee, she started to fall over when she squirted

Poor poor baby!!!  She did not have a drop of water yesterday!!!  I did cook a egg for her last night. She seemed to enjoy that but didn't want any more or anything else!!  She sleep pretty well last night..  This morning she woke me up and we went out and she peed  but show no interest in walking at all.  She just wanted to come back in and go back to sleep,  OH yes, she did have a LITTLE water --- no food. so far today.
I guess the bigger the dog the harder it is on them?????   I don't know, the other two dogs I have had  as big as her were males!!!  She is my only BIG female.   I surely hope she will be OK  !!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll tell you all, I can use this rest!!
Thank-you all for your kind- good --- well wishes for her well being and recovery..   So very comforting.......
Love coming your way,   Zoie & Fern

  2. Our 60 lb poodle had surgery a few days ago. She had mammary tumors removed so has a long row of stitching. They offered us pain meds and I took them! Helps her be calm and sleepy. She has a plastic cone around her neck to keep from reaching the owie to lick. That cone is the hardest to deal with (for ten days!).

  3. I don't know that the size is the issue. Dogs are like people and react differently to all kinds of medication. Zoe should start to feel better today. Sending good thoughts your way!

  4. Our vet insisted on keeping the dogs overnight so I'm not sure how they were just after surgery. When we picked the dog up each time they seemed fine. Paws and fingers crossed here that Zoie will rest and recover.

  5. Zoie you sound like my Lily. A little drunk with half opened eyes. Feel better sweetie. My Lily didn't get no egg

  6. I'm thinking Zoie may be sore and not feeling herself after anesthesia. It may take her a day or two to recover her energy. I know, with boys it was so much easier. With Buddy, as soon as he came home after being snipped, he jumped out of the car and ran off down the street. I was NOT expecting that and was NOT prepared!

  8. Hi Fern, my sister had it done but the vet used a laser so the incision was smaller and it healed faster. She didn't have any complications with the anesthesia so that was good. Hopefully Zoie will just sleep it off and be fine in a few hours.

  9. It's actually good that Zoie is resting and not moving too much. You don't want her putting too much stress on, or licking, her stitches. When we're sick the best thing we can do is rest and sleep and it's the same for dogs. You might try a little boiled chicken for her. My son-in-law (a vet) often tells people to feed that to a dog not feeling well. Gentle on their stomachs yet tempting.

  10. Zoie probably just needs to sleep off the anesthetic and then she'll be back to her usual self.

  11. Hello my Friend!! The other comments are spot on, the anesthetic just needs to get out of her system--water really helps with this, and as you know, she's probably a bit sore too. Let her set her pace, but slow her down if she's feeling a bit too energetic in a couple of days.

THANKS for the e-mail yesterday, I hope we can catch up soon!! Take care Fern!

  14. Hi Fern, yes we found our female dogs took much longer to bounce back from their surgery than our male dogs. Stella was quiet for about three days and then fine. Rory was ready to go after one day. She will let you know when she's ready to party again. No worries, and love, Carol (and Stella and Rory)
